Adoption from Foster Care
112,000 children in the US foster care system are currently awaiting adoption. New PSAs, released in November 2016, spotlight the need to help older teens in foster care find permanent, loving homes. Older youth and teens have lower adoption rates than younger children, and they often wait longer to be adopted. More than 43% of children photo-listed on AdoptUSKids.org are between the ages of 15 and 18 years old and need the love of a caring parent to support them during their teen and adult years—from their first date to their first job. An engaging new PSA campaign vividly demonstrates that "You don't have to be perfect to be a perfect parent" for teens in foster care—they'll love you just the way you are. The humorous, lighthearted PSAs aim to reassure prospective parents that even if they are not "perfect," they can provide the stability and security that older youth in foster care need and deserve.
